This is the first post in our series on how Gylder works. Over the next few posts, we'll walk you through the entire platform — from connecting your first account to understanding your net worth history. Think of it as a guided tour.
The fragmentation problem
How many apps do you open to check your finances? If you're like most people, the answer is at least three: your banking app, your broker, and a crypto exchange. Maybe more.
Each app shows you a slice of the picture. Your bank knows your savings. Your broker knows your stocks. Coinbase knows your Bitcoin. But none of them know about each other.
This means answering simple questions becomes surprisingly hard:
- What's my total net worth?
- What percentage of my wealth is in crypto versus cash?
- Am I actually growing my wealth, or am I just shuffling money between accounts?
Spreadsheets don't scale
The common workaround is a spreadsheet. You log in to each platform, copy the numbers, and update your sheet. It works — until you stop doing it. And everyone eventually stops doing it.
Manual tracking has three fatal flaws:
- It's tedious — Logging into five platforms every week gets old fast
- It's error-prone — One wrong number throws off everything
- It loses history — If you skip a few weeks, that data is gone forever
What a single dashboard gives you
When all your accounts live in one place, something shifts. You stop thinking about individual balances and start thinking about your wealth as a whole.
You can see at a glance:
- Your total net worth and how it's trending
- Your asset allocation across cash, investments, crypto, real estate, and debts
- Each account's contribution to your overall picture

This is exactly what Gylder does. You connect your accounts once, and the dashboard stays up to date automatically. Bank balances refresh daily. Crypto syncs within minutes. And everything you can't connect — like property or a car — you can add manually.
What's coming in this series
Over the next posts, we'll cover each piece of the puzzle:
- Connecting your bank accounts — How open banking makes it possible (and safe)
- Tracking crypto — Linking Bitvavo, Kraken, and Coinbase
- Manual entries — Adding property, vehicles, pensions, and debts
- Your portfolio breakdown — Understanding where your wealth lives
- Net worth history — How we build your chart from day one
- Alerts and insights — Staying informed without checking constantly
- Security — How we encrypt and protect your data
- GDPR and your rights — Data export, account deletion, and privacy by design
By the end, you'll understand exactly how Gylder works — and why we built it the way we did.
